A Little Dirt Is Good for You

I am a selfish person.

Aha, atlast I can rest for a sprite (small, human in form, playful, having magical powers). Get it?

Ask mothers why babies are constantly picking things up from the floor or ground and putting them in their mouths, and chances are they’ll say that it’s instinctive — that that’s how babies explore the world. But why the mouth, when sight, hearing, touch and even scent are far better at identifying things?
When my young sons were exploring the streets of Brooklyn, I couldn’t help but wonder how good crushed rock or dried dog droppings could taste when delicious mashed potatoes were routinely rejected.
Since all instinctive behaviors have an evolutionary advantage or they would not have been retained for millions of years, chances are that this one too has helped us survive as a species. And, indeed, accumulating evidence strongly suggests that eating dirt is good for you.
In studies of what is called the hygiene hypothesis, researchers are concluding that organisms like the millions of bacteria, viruses and especially worms that enter the body along with “dirt” spur the development of a healthy immune system. Several continuing studies suggest that worms may help to redirect an immune system that has gone awry and resulted in
autoimmune disorders, allergies and asthma.

U.N. crime chief says drug money flowed into banks

I am a selfish person.

We knew this init? Now here is the proof? Don't beleave.........

VIENNA: The United Nations' crime and drug watchdog has indications that money made in illicit drug trade has been used to keep banks afloat in the global financial crisis, its head was quoted as saying on Sunday.

Vienna-based UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa said in an interview released by Austrian weekly Profil that drug money often became the only available capital when the crisis spiralled out of control last year.

"In many instances, drug money is currently the only liquid investment capital," Costa was quoted as saying by Profil. "In the second half of 2008, liquidity was the banking system's main problem and hence liquid capital became an important factor."

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had found evidence that "interbank loans were funded by money that originated from drug trade and other illegal activities," Costa was quoted as saying. There were "signs that some banks were rescued in that way."

What Red Ink? Wall Street Paid Hefty Bonuses

I am a selfish person.

Wow!

By almost any measure, 2008 was a complete disaster for Wall Street — except, that is, when the bonuses arrived.

Despite crippling losses, multibillion-dollar bailouts and the passing of some of the most prominent names in the business, employees at financial companies in New York, the now-diminished world capital of capital, collected an estimated $18.4 billion in bonuses for the year

Honey & Cinamon

I am a selfish person.

This is wicked. I hope the copyrights people don't go down on me. Here is the link before you start reading this. Kudos to the authour Sunayana Choudhry

It is found that mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Ayurvedic as well as Yunani medicine have been using honey as a vital medicine for centuries. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Baan' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients also. A famous magazine named Weekly World News published in Canada dated 17 January, 95 has given a list of diseases that can be cured by Honey and Cinnamon as researched by western scientists.

Arthritis
Take one part honey to two parts of lukewarm water and add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder, make a paste and massage it on the itching part of the body slowly. It is noticed that the pain recedes within a minute or two. Or arthritis patients may daily, morning and night take one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If drunk regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research done at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

Hair Loss
Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found to be very effective.

Bladder Infections

Cholesterol
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, if given to a cholesterol patient, it reduces the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken 3 times a day any chronic cholesterol is cured. As per the information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complains of cholesterol.

Cold and Cough
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the sinuses.

Infertility
Yunani and Ayurvedic have been using honey for years in medicine to strengthen the semen of men. If impotent men regularly take two tablespoon of honey before sleeping, their problem will be solved. In China, Japan and Far-East countries, women who do not conceive and to strengthen the uterus have been taking cinnamon powder for centuries. Women who cannot conceive may take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey and apply it on the gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva and enters the body.

Upset Stomach
Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.

GAS :
According to the studies done in India & Japan, it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

Heart Diseases
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread or chappati instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.

Immune System
Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

Indigestion
Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food, relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.

Influenza
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ingredient which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu. Finance Acoording To Me

I am a selfish person.

If you simplify the whole monetory system, there is only one thing which comes out front. The neccesary commodities in life. Hair Gel is not one of them. If a country forgets about the neccessities and spend on hair gel en masse then the country will have a problem. Take the case of China. In the last decade or so Chinese had this popular view of 'all city dwellers who are involved in hair gel got the better wages and the farmers low wages'. Why because the West was buying the hair gel. Now the West has no money to buy the hair gel and the Chinese have a big problem. Lets wait and see how they turn it around. Revolt mate revolt is their mantra over the years gone by for centuries. Hope one day we all realise all the revolutions go bankrupt after a while. Until we all believe in evolution, there is not much hope init?

Letter To The Doctor

I am a selfish person.

I left my parent's caravan when I was 10 or 11 years old. I worked since then. I had Winnie who looked after me until I was 13 years old. I ran away from her and she died during that time and I still carry the guilt.

I have been sleeping the same way from my childhood. I remember waking up - as long as I can remember - with my right side numb as I slept on that side. When I was in my late 20's after a stint in prison I thought of educating myself. I enjoyed it until my back started giving me pain. I gave up my studies due to that. By now I have done two years of a degree in Electronincs which should have been three years.

By 1995 I could not carry on working and I signed on sick. The doctor I signed on is Dr Allen in Seymour Street in Bristol and he still is my Doctor. I realised by 1997 that my back is twisted due to the fact of sleeping the same way over a period of 20 years. I asked for help and I did not get any. So I worked out a exercising system to get my back straight. It is difficult to explain the exercises I went through except that I tried to push the pain bubble I have in any part of my body in and out. I hope you understand.

I have taken diferent medications to kill my pain. The best was Co Proximol which bloody Mr Blair decided to take off the list of medications as he realised he killed that famous Dr, who would have taken the gov out.

Right now I have so much pain I feel like there is not much to live for. So I am taking action towords it. I am too timid to take my own life. So it will have to be a long drawn affair. Planning is on as I write this. I don't think any one can stop me as the plans will not be discussed until the end time.

The problem I have now is that the pain killers prescribed by the Doc is not enough to kill the pain so that I can carry out my exercises. so I have to drink or take some illegal grugs like Amphetamines to do them. So Doc listen: don't try your new drugs on me but give me some which have a proven tract record. What I like you to know is that I live with my problem, and atleast when you are not tired Doc,listen to me like you did when I blew my Didg.

Now I want to talk about the bath. this is something I never had in my childhood. As travellers know, hot water is not on the list of essentails. So it is a simple wash. I got attached to it when I got more into the fa. Fixed Abode. I was a turncoat with my friends in the early 80's but there again I loved the bath. It is the only place in the whole UK where you can get your body into a certain temparature within a given time, and all seasons. So I used that to alleviate my back problems by staying in the bath for a long time in the winter months to do my exercises. Now I find it lacking.

The Housing Association (HA) Rep who introduced me to the current flat said that he will get a bath installed in three months when I visited the premises to have a look around. I had Charlie the Saly Army Settlement Officer (SO) with me. Then when I went to the United HA to sign the contract with the same SO, the rep - fucking cunt David- confirmed. That is official. I lived in this flat over a year and HA did not put a bath in my flat. The HA rep David told me I have to get a letter from my GP to the effect that I need a bath. I did that through Kerry who is my new SO. Then the HA told me through my SO that I need a letter from a Occupational Therapist. So I went to my GP and told him about it and he contacted Occupational Therapist(OT) for me. The OT came and went and they said I need a bath. So far I have nothing towards my bath. My only aim is to get my back into the middle where I was born with. Not much to ask I suppose; well I am the one who is living it init?

The moral of this fracas is that there are soooooo many cooks most of them are 'jobsworth' as they don't want to be responsible. Now I am responsible for my own problems I know. Let me do the essentail so that others can live properly.

Fact Or Fiction

Out of all the devastation I have seen so far, there is one story in particular that I think the world needs to hear. I met a mother who was at home with her ten children when Israeli soldiers entered the house. The soldiers told her she had to choose five of her children to "give as a gift to Israel." As she screamed in horror they repeated the demand and told her she could choose or they would choose for her. Then these soldiers murdered five of her children in front of her. The concept of "Jewish morality" is truly dead. We can be fascists, terrorists, and Nazis just like everybody else.

How Israel drowns dissent

I am a selfish person.

Fact or Fiction?

Last week, at the height of Operation Cast Lead, a group of Israeli firemen threw their hats into the political ring, albeit in somewhat undiplomatic and uncivilised fashion. During a peaceful anti-war vigil outside a Tel Aviv air force base, several members of the fire brigade turned on one protester, drenching her relentlessly with water from their hoses, before approaching her and ordering her into the station in order to "give us all head".

BEST 'HEADACHE' JOKE EVER!

A husband emerged from the bathroom naked and was
climbing into bed when his wife complained, as usual,

'Perfect,' her husband said, 'I was just in the bathroom powdering my penis with
crushed aspirin. You can take it orally, or as a suppository, it's up to you.'

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

I am a selfish person.

In this website it says:

Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Article 1

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Except for the people in the First World the above statement has no true value. If you are so stupid to believe in this you must be one of few who believes in Santa The Clause.

All these people who walk around saying we are all brothers are bigots. They should be eliminated from the UN. UN should stand for ONE. ANY ONE. Otherwise why did we all watch the ellimination of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Somalia etc. UN is a corrupt regime taken over by the West who make all of us believe that the West is taking care of the World. It is the opposite. It is the right old way of the Vikings; of pillage, rape and take over, subjugate and then keep the fucking bastards from complaining. If they do complain call them fucking terrorists. UN is a WW2 monster created by the West to undermine the rest of the world.

Watch this 15 minute clip of Palestine. You need a small heart and a big spleen to watch this as I did not and I broke down in tears and vomited.

Now you can watch a few clips of how the Fascists enjoyed the slaughter here.

For Zionists The Party Is On

And I read the rest of the Human Rights Shite in the UN Charter and it has no value for the downtrodden under-dog. It is full of jargonised crap which will fit easily into "New Fairy Tales" by F Crap.

Olmert’s Poodle

I am a selfish person.

After intense negotiations with Britain and France, Secretary of State Rice had persuaded the Security Council to agree on a resolution calling for a cease-fire. But Olmert wanted more time to kill Hamas.

So, here, in Olmert’s words, is what happened next.

“In the night between Thursday and Friday, when the secretary of state wanted to lead the vote on a cease-fire at the Security Council, we did not want her to vote in favor.

“I said, ‘Get me President Bush on the phone.’ They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn’t care. ‘I need to talk to him now.’ He got off the podium and spoke to me.

According to Olmert, Bush was clueless.

“He said: ‘Listen. I don’t know about it. I didn’t see it. I’m not familiar with the phrasing.’”

“I told him the United States could not vote in favor. It cannot vote in favor of such a resolution. He immediately called the secretary of state and told her not to vote in favor. …

“She was left shamed. A resolution that she prepared and arranged, and in the end she did not vote in favor.”

Bush: I Personally Authorized Torture Of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

I am a selfish person.

In an interview with Brit Hume that aired today on Fox News Sunday, (Jan 11) President Bush admitted that he personally authorized the torture of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. He said he personally asked “what tools” were available to use on him, and sought legal approval for waterboarding him:

BUSH: One such person who gave us information was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. … And I’m in the Oval Office and I am told that we have captured Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the professionals believe he has information necessary to secure the country. So I ask what tools are available for us to find information from him and they gave me a list of tools, and I said are these tools deemed to be legal? And so we got legal opinions before any decision was made.

Bush staunchly defended the program, saying it saved American lives — despite interrogators’ claims to the contrary. He waved away the debate over torture by saying dismissively, “Look, I understand why people can get carried away on this issue.”

Last year, Bush admitted that he was “aware” that his national security team met to discuss KSM’s interrogation, and that he approved of the meeting. His admission today suggests Bush had a far more direct role in developing the specific torture program, which included waterboarding, a freezing cell, and long periods of standing and stress positions (all of which have long been considered torture).

What’s more, a former Pentagon intelligence analyst told Vanity Fair that “K.S.M. produced no actionable intelligence“; another former CIA official, who read all the reports from KSM’s interrogation, said, “90 percent of it was total f*cking bullsh*t.”

Funny This?

I am a selfish person.

Olmert's comments were made in Ashkelon, a southern Israeli city that has been the target of rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip.

According to Olmert, he called the White House upon hearing of the upcoming U.N. Security Council resolution. "I said, 'Get me President Bush on the phone'. They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn't care: 'I need to talk to him now'. He got off the podium and spoke to me," Olmert said, according to multiple media reports.

As a result of his conversation with President Bush, Olmert claimed, the president called Rice and forced her to abstain from voting on the measure, which she herself had helped author.

"He gave an order to the secretary of state and she did not vote in favour of it -- a resolution she cooked up, phrased, organised and maneuvered for. She was left pretty shamed and abstained on a resolution she arranged," Olmert said.

The Security Council resolution passed by a vote of 14 to 0, with the U.S. the only abstention.

The U.S. government was quick to counter Olmert's remarks. In addition to the State Department's rebuttal, a White House spokesman also denounced "inaccuracies" in the story.

What You Don’t Know About Gaza

I am a selfish person.

THE GAZANS Most of the people living in Gaza are not there by choice. The majority of the 1.5 million people crammed into the roughly 140 square miles of the Gaza Strip belong to families that came from towns and villages outside Gaza like Ashkelon and Beersheba. They were driven to Gaza by the Israeli Army in 1948.

THE OCCUPATION The Gazans have lived under Israeli occupation since the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel is still widely considered to be an occupying power, even though it removed its troops and settlers from the strip in 2005. Israel still controls access to the area, imports and exports, and the movement of people in and out. Israel has control over Gaza’s air space and sea coast, and its forces enter the area at will. As the occupying power, Israel has the responsibility under the Fourth Geneva Convention to see to the welfare of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.

THE BLOCKADE Israel’s blockade of the strip, with the support of the United States and the European Union, has grown increasingly stringent since Hamas won the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in January 2006. Fuel, electricity, imports, exports and the movement of people in and out of the Strip have been slowly choked off, leading to life-threatening problems of sanitation, health, water supply and transportation.

The blockade has subjected many to unemployment, penury and malnutrition. This amounts to the collective punishment — with the tacit support of the United States — of a civilian population for exercising its democratic rights.

THE CEASE-FIRE Lifting the blockade, along with a cessation of rocket fire, was one of the key terms of the June cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. This accord led to a reduction in rockets fired from Gaza from hundreds in May and June to a total of less than 20 in the subsequent four months (according to Israeli government figures). The cease-fire broke down when Israeli forces launched major air and ground attacks in early November; six Hamas operatives were reported killed.

WAR CRIMES The targeting of civilians, whether by Hamas or by Israel, is potentially a war crime. Every human life is precious. But the numbers speak for themselves: Nearly 700 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed since the conflict broke out at the end of last year. In contrast, there have been around a dozen Israelis killed, many of them soldiers. Negotiation is a much more effective way to deal with rockets and other forms of violence. This might have been able to happen had Israel fulfilled the terms of the June cease-fire and lifted its blockade of the Gaza Strip.

This war on the people of Gaza isn’t really about rockets. Nor is it about “restoring Israel’s deterrence,” as the Israeli press might have you believe. Far more revealing are the words of Moshe Yaalon, then the Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff, in 2002: “The Palestinians must be made to understand in the deepest recesses of their consciousness that they are a defeated people.”

International Energy Agency 'Blocking Global Switch to Renewables'

I am a selfish person.

The international body that advises most major governments across the world on energy policy is obstructing a global switch to renewable power because of its ties to the oil, gas and nuclear sectors, a group of politicians and scientists claims today.
The experts, from the Energy Watch group, say the International Energy Agency (IEA) publishes misleading data on renewables, and that it has consistently underestimated the amount of electricity generated by wind power in its advice to governments. They say the IEA shows "ignorance and contempt" towards wind energy, while promoting oil, coal and nuclear as "irreplaceable" technologies.

Metropolitan Police accused of protecting staff against rape allegations

I am a selfish person.

The Metropolitan Police was accused last night of shielding officers against accusations of rape after it emerged that dozens of complaints had not resulted in a single conviction over the past five years.

The figures, obtained by The Times, also show that since 2000 only 1 per cent of all public complaints of rape and sexual assault against Met staff were upheld by an internal police investigation. Even then, a quarter of those who faced a disciplinary board were allowed to resign before any hearing and with police pension intact.

How The Media Is Contralled

I am a selfish person.

This is how the media are contralled in all the places of the world, not just Israel, it could be UK.

Gaza Geezers

I am a selfish person.

“Just a little bit more than an hour ago the Israelis bombed the central fruit market in Gaza city and we had a mass influx of about 50 injured and between 10 and 15 killed. At the same time they bombed an apartment house with children playing on the roof and we had a lot of children also. So this is really like speaking from the dumps of Inferno, it’s like hell here now, and it’s been bombing all night. Until now close to 500 people have been killed and the number of casualties is getting to 2,500 of which 50% are children and women.

Are your hospitals reaching capacity? Can you deal with these people?

We have been doing surgery around the clock. I have just talked with one of my colleagues in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), he's not been sleeping for three days and the hospital is completely overcrowded, we are running 6 - 7 Ors (Operating Rooms) and there are injuries you just don’t want to see in this world… children coming in with open abdomens and legs cut off. We just had a child that we had to amputate both legs and an arm. And their only crime is being civilians and Palestinians living in Gaza. The relief now is not more doctors and more drugs; the relief now is to stop the bombing immediately, this cannot go on, it’s a disaster.

You’ve talked about the civilians, the women, the children, the men who aren’t involved in this, but are you also getting casualties that are Hamas fighters?

To be honest, we came on New Year’s Eve in the morning. I’ve seen one military person among the tenths… I mean hundreds that we’ve seen and treated, so anybody who tries to portrait this as a totally clean war against another army are lying. This is an all-out war against the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza, and we can prove that with numbers. And you have to remember that the average age of the Gaza inhabitants is 17 years, it’s a very young population, and 80% are li
ving below the poverty limit of the UN. So this is a poor and very young people, and they are able to escape absolutely nowhere, because they cannot flee like other populations can in war time, because they are fenced in and they are in a cage, so they’re bombing 1.5 million people in a cage… young people, poor people and, you know, you cannot separate between the civilians and the fighters in such a situation.”

Massacre of Gazan Children

I have no children of my own. So I do not know how the feelings of these people are. I have cried unashamedly when a close friend have died. But now the tears are dried up.

Zionism in BBC

I am a selfish person.

The BBC 1 is showing the most remarkable episode in WW 2 The Diary Of Anne Frank. It is in HD as well. I watched it and cannot find anything shocking except a life of a 13 year old in Nazi occupied Amsterdam. What do you expect. I wish the honourable BBC show us something about how a 13 year old girl lives in Occupied terrories in Gaza Strip and West Bank. Then I can sleep properly without nightmares of my own inaction in this issue. I do not have a God to pray; so I write my feelings here. This is what BBC tells us about the screening:

June 1942. WWII Amsterdam is under Nazi occupation. Anne Frank, a teenage Jewish girl, is celebrating her 13th birthday with her family and friends by having a party. Amongst her birthday presents, she is given a red diary that she starts to write in immediately. Days later, call up papers arrive for her 16-year-old sister Margot and her parents, Otto and Edith, decide to hasten their plan to go into hiding from the Nazis to ensure that the family do not get separated.

The next morning, the Franks head to Otto's spice company. Once there, they are led past the warehouses by their helpers in the office and taken up to a secret annex at the back of the building that occupies the three top floors. Otto and Edith will sleep in one room, with Margot and Anne next door in another. They will soon be joined by their friends Mr and Mrs Van Daan and their teenage son Peter, who will live on the floor above, in the larger shared living area. At the very top of the building is a disused attic, too cold to sleep in but useful for storing food. They must obey strict rules in the annex, remaining completely silent during working hours while the warehouse men are in the building. Only the faithful office staff know of their existence and have agreed to help them survive.

At first, Edith and Margot find the confinement hard to bear and sink into depression, while Otto and Anne make themselves useful, arranging the furniture that has been hidden there for them, and sewing material together to make black-out curtains. The Van Daans soon arrive and liven things up, especially when Peter reveals that he has brought his pet cat Mouschi, while Anne was forced to leave her cat at home. Anne does not think much of Peter but decides she must try and be pleasant to him to keep the peace.

Cor blimey then they are showing The Diary Of The Holocaust. Another diary of a Polish girl, Rutka Leskier, in 1943. In HD. My my how they find these Zionist programs when the frigging Zionists are killing the Palestinians. Good old BBC.

BBC says:

Documentary telling the extraordinary tale of a 14-year-old Polish girl, Rutka Laskier, who was murdered at Auschwitz in 1943.

In 2005, the school notebook in which Rutka recorded her last months in the ghetto of Bedzin was made public, six decades after she hid it under the floorboards of her home there. Rutka was immediately dubbed the 'Polish Anne Frank'.

In her diary, Rutka wrote about her life in the ghetto in 1943, detailing not just the Nazi atrocities, physical hardship and hunger, but also how she was developing as a young woman. She also tells how she made a daring escape from one of the early 'aktions', Nazi round-ups of Jews for transportation.

The documentary will unravel Rutka's story through the eyes of her half-sister, Israeli academic Zahava Scherz, on a journey to Poland in search of the sister she never knew.

The Pentagon is muscling in everywhere. It's time to stop the mission creep.

I am a selfish person.

We no longer have a civilian-led government. It is hard for a lifelong Republican and son of a retired Air Force colonel to say this, but the most unnerving legacy of the Bush administration is the encroachment of the Department of Defense into a striking number of aspects of civilian government. Our Constitution is at risk.

Ahem what is happening in the good old UK?

Execs of bailed-out banks got $1.6B last year, AP finds

I am a selfish person.

Banks that are getting taxpayer bailouts awarded their top executives nearly $1.6 billion in salaries, bonuses, and other benefits last year, an Associated Press analysis reveals.
The rewards came even at banks where poor results last year foretold the economic crisis that sent them to Washington for a government rescue. Some trimmed their executive compensation due to lagging bank performance, but still forked over multimillion-dollar executive pay packages.

Benefits included cash bonuses, stock options, personal use of company jets and chauffeurs, home security, country club memberships and professional money management, the AP review of federal securities documents found.

The total amount given to nearly 600 executives would cover bailout costs for many of the 116 banks that have so far accepted tax dollars to boost their bottom lines.

Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services committee and a long-standing critic of executive largesse, said the bonuses tallied by the AP review amount to a bribe "to get them to do the jobs for which they are well paid in the first place.

Israel rains fire on Gaza with phosphorus shells

I am a selfish person.

Israel is believed to be using controversial white phosphorus shells to screen its assault on the heavily populated Gaza Strip yesterday. The weapon, used by British and US forces in Iraq, can cause horrific burns but is not illegal if used as a smokescreen.

As the Israeli army stormed to the edges of Gaza City and the Palestinian death toll topped 500, the tell-tale shells could be seen spreading tentacles of thick white smoke to cover the troops’ advance. “These explosions are fantastic looking, and produce a great deal of smoke that blinds the enemy so that our forces can move in,” said one Israeli security expert. Burning blobs of phosphorus would cause severe injuries to anyone caught beneath them and force would-be snipers or operators of remote-controlled booby traps to take cover. Israel admitted using white phosphorus during its 2006 war with Lebanon.

The use of the weapon in the Gaza Strip, one of the world’s mostly densely population areas, is likely to ignite yet more controversy over Israel’s offensive, in which more than 2,300 Palestinians have been wounded.

The Geneva Treaty of 1980 stipulates that white phosphorus should not be used as a weapon of war in civilian areas, but there is no blanket ban under international law on its use as a smokescreen or for illumination. However, Charles Heyman, a military expert and former major in the British Army, said: “If white phosphorus was deliberately fired at a crowd of people someone would end up in The Hague. White phosphorus is also a terror weapon. The descending blobs of phosphorus will burn when in contact with skin.”

Prime Minister’s New Year message

I am a selfish person.

The Prime Minister’s New Year message for 2009:

As we look forward to this New Year, we face a challenge. A challenge of how we build a better tomorrow, today.

It will be my unwavering focus to make the right decisions to build in a world of danger and uncertainty a Britain of opportunity and hope.

This coming year won’t be easy, but I am determined that this government will be the rock of stability and fairness on which the British people can depend.

The scale of the challenges we face is matched by the strength of my optimism that the British people can and will rise to meet them. Because we’re not a do nothing people and we’ve always risen to every challenge.

We can meet the security challenge, the environmental challenge and the enormous economic challenge.

The British genius has always been to embrace the world in which we live, not the world we want to live in.

At all times, but perhaps especially at this time of year, we must acknowledge the debt we owe to our servicemen and women who meet our security challenge. Their bravery is unsurpassed and their sacrifice knows no bounds.

And as we meet the security challenge, so we must also meet the challenge of climate change.

The pace of climate change is such that it not only threatens future generations, but imperils our generation today.

Again, in an ever more interdependent world this will require us to build alliances and win arguments for change that is real, fair and sustainable.

I believe we can do it - and because we can, we must. The stakes are too great with our planet in peril for us to do anything less.

I look forward to working with President Elect Obama in creating a transatlantic, and then a global coalition for change.

We can demonstrate this in 2009 in how we tackle climate change at the Copenhagen Summit.

And we can demonstrate this in 2009 by making sure that now, more than ever, we keep our promises to the world’s poorest.

As we look ahead into 2009, the most immediate and pressing challenge of all for every continent is the economic challenge.

When the history books come to be written - 2008 will largely be remembered for the scale of the great economic and financial crisis. A year in which an old era of unbridled free market dogma was finally ushered out.

And I want 2009 to be the year when the dawn of a new progressive era breaks across the world: purposeful and energetic governments giving real help to families and businesses when they need it the most; and through expanding through the downturn vital investments in our future - real hope for that future too.

Real help now. Real hope for the future. Both are essential. Alone one will not be enough. Failure to do either, as some propose, would mean both a longer, deeper downturn, and a weaker economy in the future.

The scale and speed of the global financial crisis was at times, almost overwhelming. I know that people felt bewildered, confused and sometimes frightened.

That is why the response had to be swift and decisive.

That is why we acted so quickly to get money into the banks. Not for any desire to finance bankers, but because if we didn’t it would have put at risk that which is most important to you and me - your jobs, your homes, your savings, your standard of living.

What keeps me up at night, and gets me up in the morning are the hopes and aspirations of the British people. My guiding principle, at all times, is the welfare and well being of British families and British businesses.

All of this would have been put at risk if we had not intervened and simply done nothing, as some would have had us do.

This will be a challenging year for the economy but I believe, with the right policies, we can build a better tomorrow, while dealing with the challenges of today.

The failure of British governments in previous global downturns was to succumb to political expediency and to cut back investment across the board, thereby stunting our ability to grow and strangling hope during the upturn.

This will not happen on my watch.

The lesson of this crisis is that we do not let recession take its course, yield to defeatism, or simply muddle through and just hope for things to get better.

The message is - we take action: we are providing an extra £60 to pensioners immediately, on top of the winter allowance; increasing child benefit from January 1st to £20 per week; and helping 22 million basic rate taxpayers with a £145 tax cut. Added to that, the cut in VAT this year will knock around £275 off the average family household bill. Not to do this would be imprudent.

Today the risk of attempting too little is a greater threat than the risk of attempting too much.

And in this period of difficulty and downturn, it is also important that we understand that amid the threats and the global risks there are great opportunities for Britain. We must prepare ourselves for these massive opportunities as the world economy doubles in size over the next two decades.

We must not just plan for tomorrow. Our task over the next twelve months is to build tomorrow today.

So that Britain creates the thousands of new tech jobs for the digital age now ahead of us, we must build the digital tomorrow, today

So that Britain creates the thousands of green jobs vital for the environment and our economy, we must build that green future of tomorrow, today.

So that we have the best railways, roads and communications for the future, we must build the infrastructure of tomorrow, today.

So we have the right skills for the future we must not let people’s lives waste away in unemployment without trying to help. So that they have the skills our country needs we must build that tomorrow, today.

If we coordinate our expansion with other countries then the effect of one country’s action can be magnified, almost twice over.

So I want to set out an agenda for the G20 meeting of all the major economies in London in April that will help renew our global institutions for the intense levels of international cooperation we now need to solve our problems.

So to those worried about jobs, we will take every action we can.

For those worried about their homes, let me tell you that ordinary homeowners should not be the first to pay the price of financial failures. We will help people trying their best to pay their mortgages to stay in their own homes.

To those who know that the only solution for our economy and environment is a global solution - expanding growth and tackling climate change together - let us say that we will work with Europe, America and others to meet the international challenges of this century - a World Bank for environment and development. And an International Monetary Fund that is an early warning system for crisis prevention.

All of these actions will play a role in delivering real help now and real hope for the future. And they will ensure that when we come out of this downturn we hit the ground running.

I am confident that we can steer Britain safely into the future.

First, because I am confident in the innate strength and decency of the British people.

Second, because Britain as a country has faced down many even greater challenges than those before us today.

And third, because this government has set short term, medium term and long term challenges before, and, more crucially, have met them.

Today the issues may be different, more complex, more global. And yet the qualities that are needed to meet them have been demonstrated in abundance by the British people before.

I believe that we will eventually look back on the winter of 2008 and 2009 as another great global challenge that was thrown Britain’s way, and that Britain met. Because we had the right values, the right policies, the right character to meet them.

That’s why I believe Britain is the best country in the world. And the British people will, in 2009, show the world the qualities we are made of - as we build tomorrow, today.

".....At all times, but perhaps especially at this time of year, we must acknowledge the debt we owe to our servicemen and women who meet our security challenge. Their bravery is unsurpassed and their sacrifice knows no bounds.

And as we meet the security challenge, so we must also meet the challenge of climate change........"

First of all, you and me cannot comment on No 10 Gov shite. So I ask the question, where is this security problem. Neither Afghanistan nor Iraq has ever asttacked us in UK. Until we attacked them, we did not have any 'terrorist' attacks here in UK. G Brown is another T Blair I feel so far. What the fuck do commoners know init? They think they are there by right as Gov not put there by you and me. Cock suckers!
