measure electrical brain waves—devices called or
electroencephalograms—scientists learned to tell
apart one person’s brain patterns for commands such as “left,”
“right,” “accelerate” or “brake.” They then created an
interface to connect the sensors to their
otherwise purely computer-controlled vehicle.
