plants acting Funny?

as you know if you have read any of my posts that I am a believer in understanding more and simplifying facts of life. If I get attacked by someone bigger than me I always call the Police. what will a Tobacco plant do? Ha Ha.

according to this article, when the tobacco plant find itself attacked by a caterpillar it gives out a chemical called green leaf volatiles, or GLVs. If you’ve smelled freshly cut grass, you’ve smelled GLVs.

It is very unlikely the tobacco plant has labs to do tests to find out. So the boffins are at it.

How To Be An early Riser

Ahhh the life long problem I have lived with. Boom Boom lazyness. I wake up around 6 to 7 AM as my body says take your bloody pain killers. I dutefully take them, go for a leak and, hai karamba I am in snoozyland. I tried and tried in vain to get up and get along with something interesting to do.

I came across this simple 5 ways to get up and go. I will do it next few weeks and will write about what I discover. Boy will I stay in bed with the woman below or not?

1) Choose to get up before you go to sleep. You’re not very good at making decisions when you’ve just woken up. This is not the time to be making decisions about whether or not you should stay in bed! If you want to be a consistently early riser, try making your decision to rise at a specific time before you go to sleep the night before.

2.)Have a plan for your extra time. Let’s say you’ve actually made it out of bed 2 hours before you normally would. If you don’t have something planned to do with your extra time, you risk falling for the temptation of a “morning nap” that wipes out all the work you put into getting up.

3.)Make rising early a social activity. Wouldn’t it be great to join an early breakfast club, running group, or play chess in the park at 5 AM?

4.)Don’t use an alarm that makes you angry. If we’re all wired differently, why do we all insist on torturing ourselves with the same sort of alarm each morning? Experiment a bit and see what works best for you. Light, sound, smells, temperature, or even some contraption that dumps water on you might be more pleasant than your old alarm clock.

5.)Get your blood flowing right after waking. It doesn’t take much to get your blood flowing and chase the sleep from your head. Just pick something you don’t mind doing and go through the motions until your heart rate is up. Jumping rope, push-ups, crunches, or a few minutes of yoga are typically enough to do the trick.

The Laboratories Of Bacteria

Some time back I published a post and there are more revelations about them to make the intelligence of bacteria, a bit more understood.

If you have limited time; I will go through the post.

"The bacteria are the smallest living creature in this world. They do the same things humans do with the setup they have. They use chemicle signal system to know about things, like the sex of another, and do things as 'aving it party or otherwise. So they are intelligent in their own way."

They cooperate with each other and feel altruism for others in the colony. No difference from us.

"If a food particle brushes against the cell, then a molecular chain reaction occurs to perform the task of enveloping the food particle to digest it."

Self explanatory.

Learning

When there is plenty food they put chemical signals to attract the piece of food to itself and replicate faster, so tht the replicates know about the food; or it can send chemical signals to others where the food is. wow the size of the particle of food and can I share it?

Then again when there is a food shortage they signal to eachother and secrete and harden a cell outside the colony, untill they feel there is a food supply.

Yep as usual the boffins want to replicate the same system the bacteria use to make a better computer. Wicked. i hope they solve it out before I die.

And then again I wrote a post here.

And a bit earlier when I was a bit younger I said this.

Drug-resistant germs found to help their brethren through the attack

This article made me feel wonderba. It is right into me little soul.

I will try to elucidate what the article says in a way I understood. You might see it different.

Confronting attack by antibiotics, some bacteria help each other out—and unfortunately for us, they’re better off for it, researchers have found.

It starts making my invicible hair on my knape go crazy. Felt like a bloody horse.

Normal wisdom according to the teory of evolution; some bacteria become super bugs, who are immune to the antibiotc, produce more and more superbugs and the other bacteria die out. that leaves the super bug in "evolution".

But now the boffins have found out otherwise.

But the new study, to appear in the Sept. 2 issue of the research journal Nature, indicates there are also population-wide changes in the bacterial community at work. Faced with an onslaught of antibiotics, resistant Escherichichia coli microbes produce—at an energy cost to themselves—a protein molecule that seeps into the communal broth and triggers a slew of protective mechanisms in their non-resistant neighbors.

Mouse Patrol

I have had lots of visitations of these little buggers in the past few months. I have already written about catching 5 of them and getting rid of all. The new ones which started visiting me already knew the trap, I caught the others with, and will not dare venture into it.

So I thought, where the hell do they come inside to my flat. One by one I blocked almost all the holes which they can use to come in. Hmmmm except one. there was an old telephone access point cut into the wood in the central wall in my flat. it is wooden and a double wall. So I connected the wires and put a new plastic access unit on the wall.

Then i could hear the little bugger scratching the inside of the plastic. I let it be. this afternoon i was watching some McDonald TV. I heard the little bugger scratching the inside plastic and then from my peripheral vision i saw a black blob drop from the hole where you plug the phone into. Bugger is in. Wow!

So while I am wrting this I heard a noise in the kitchen. I have everything in containers and all the kitchen cupboards are closed properly. There was a packet of sweets unopened in the kitchen, still in the plastic bag. The mouse is trying to get in there. He/she must be very hungry.

I really want to see the little bugger getting out of my flat as I have blocked all the holes. will LB try to get out through the telephone access point by raising the lid from outside. wicked.....Let you know what happens next.

I have to take your hat off to the mouse. So I did. I don't take my hat off for anyone. But I actually did. Now i am waiting for the mouse to come out and dance around the kitchen area.

Footprints In The Sand

I was watching this person walking on a beautiful sandy beach. His finely etched foot prints got defaced by a small wave.

I thought about the foot prints on a stone in the Severne beach.

How did that happened. I mean, there can't be many waves and the tide levels do not go down rapidly in days, or to that matter in thousands of years, to leave a print in soft sand/stone which has bin there for thou........

Hang on a bit I got distrated reading about this in an article written in 2007 called "Kenfig Sands, Porthcawl. Bridgend. Site visits to two peat shelves"

According to the story. (shit if you alredy read the whole article forget reading this, you I will feel an idiot: when I put this ^^^^^^^, then you can start reading).

In 2007 this guy found some stakes, which he thought will be washed away, but he saved them, as he is an archeologist. what will I do is on your imagination.

Now all the local arceologists get a wiff of some notoriority and dived in. And then 5 of them and the original player get in the mix. Hope they mix well man.

Hospital Drama Of My Life.

I had an appoinment with the Nose, Ear & Throat Clinic in The BRI. A friend called around and during the conversation I learnt that her mother went for a test in the same hospital and contracted a virus. She neatrly died I heard and was ill for about a month and her husband had to take care of her. If I fall ill matey I will have to hospitalised. So I did not attend.

I was in BRI after a mini-stroke and the ward I was in was quarantined from some norovirus. Then I had another attack and went to Frenchey, for difference of opinion and the ward was cleared in a day from some sort of virus. The clearence was so fast I never learnt which virus. And then I read this:

One of the most dangerous places in society is the hospital. Medical errors include misdiagnoses, bad prescriptions, prescriptions of medications that should not be combined, unnecessary surgery, unnecessary or badly administered treatments including chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and corrective surgeries.

Now they have given me another appoinment and very crosseyed and stressed. You win some and......

Get Real Fool

Meanwhile no mainstream economic theory makes any mention of the fact that money itself is created wholesale in a fractional reserve banking system owned by secret private interests given a licence to fabricate and deliver debt that must be paid back (with interest) from the real economy, thereby continuously concentrating ownership and power over all local and regional economies.

Really I can't believe this.

funday Times

First the background please:

Who is; Lieutenant General Hamid Gul, HI(M), SBt, (Urdū:حمید گل) (born 20 November 1936) is a retired Pakistan Army general known for heading the Inter-Services Intelligence Pakistani intelligence agency, after the Soviet-Afghan War, and for instigating the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir against India in 1989 with the support of the militants, who fought in the Soviet-Afghan war.

During the recent wikileaks about the afghani war, the London Times came out that "....Gul’s name appears in about 10 of roughly 180 classified US files that allege Pakistan’s intelligence service supported Afghan militants fighting Nato forces......".

And Gul says,"I am a very favourite whipping boy of America. They can’t imagine the Afghans can win wars on their own. It would be an abiding shame that a 74-year-old general living a retired life manipulating the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan results in the defeat of America"

Further he says:

As well, in a UPI interview on September 26, 2001, two weeks after the 9-11 attacks, Gul stated, in reply to the question who did Black Sept. 11?, “Mossad and its accomplices. The US spends $40 billion a year on its 11 intelligence agencies. That’s $400 billion in 10 years. Yet the Bush Administration says it was taken by surprise. I don’t believe it. Within 10 minutes of the second twin tower being hit in the World Trade Center CNN said Osama bin Laden had done it. That was a planned piece of disinformation by the real perpetrators...”

Good old Gul. I have taken a liking to him.

Cluster Bombs

Lots of us have seen the the terrible injuries caused by the Cluster Bombs in various part of the world. The problem is that the civilians specially children are getting injured by the left over bombs on the ground.

100 nations have agreed to ban the bombs. Wicked!

Bombs simplified:

1. The cluster bomb, in this case a CBU-87, is dropped from a plane and can fly about nine miles before releasing its load of about 200 bomblets.
2. The canister starts to spin and opens at an altitude between 1,000m and 100m, spraying the bomblets across a wide area.
3. Each bomblet is the size of a soft drink can and contains hundreds of metal pieces. When it explodes, it can cause deadly injuries up to 25m away.

4. Some of the bombs do not explode and they can dormant on the ground for years. But can explode if not handled properly. (I added this bit)

Are Charities A Form Of Tax

My friend, who is properly employed, said,"I give 190 quid for charities annually."

Of course my friend earns good bag of lolly unlike me. So I asked him if the dear old Gov increases the tax and take that 190 quid off you, will he pay the same amount to charities.

Here we had to stop the conversation as he hit a rock, bigger than the whatsit.

This conversation started when both of us viewed a news clip about one of the ministers stating that the poor people in UK will have to depend on the charities during this recession.

Now here is what Charities Commission has to say about this:

The Charity Commission’s fourth Economic Survey of Charities demonstrates the continuing effect of the recession on charities in England and Wales. The key findings of the survey of 1,010 charities, carried out by MVA Consultancy, include:

59% of charities report having been affected by the downturn, up from 38% in September 2008 and 56% in September 2009. Of those affected, 62% have experienced a drop in income.

Larger* charities have been hit hardest, with 79% feeling the impact of the downturn and a third seeing an increase in demand for services. These charities are also more likely to predict a decrease in income than small and medium charities, with 28% anticipating a drop in funds compared with 14% of small and 16% of medium charities.

This disparity is also reflected when looking at the steps that charities have taken in response to the downturn, with 79% of the largest charities putting measures in place, compared to 31% of small charities.

Yet, 84% of all charities said they were optimistic about the outlook for the next year. This figure has increased from 69% expressing optimism six months ago.

Almost half of charities (47%) expect the recovery of the charity sector to lag behind that of the rest of the economy.

International, health and social service charities have been most affected by the downturn. 74%, 74% and 65% respectively of these types of charity report having felt the impact, compared with 59% of all charities.

19% of charities have seen an increase in demand for services in the last six months. This compares with 17% reporting an increase in demand in September.

45% of the charities surveyed fundraise from the public; this is the most important source of income for almost a quarter of all charities (23%).

Investment income continues to be the most affected, with 62% of charities with investments having seen a decrease in the past six months.

I know the Gov was giving tax relief for donations for charity as my dear friend explained. The disparity in the situation is quite clear. I think the donations for charities are a form of tax when a Minister says that the poor people in this country will have to depend on charities, as above "19% of charities have seen an increase in demand for services in the last six months. This compares with 17% reporting an increase in demand in September."

I rest my case

Guilt is live's blood.

In my whole life I have been thriving on Guilt. I can see I have to do something eg. post a bloody letter, or fill a form, but I postpone it.

Later I have the guilt of not doing it.

Now that is an example but there are others, lots more........
