International Panel for Climate Change Report 2018

I read this report with much trepidation , but as I am too old and childless I stopped my stress about it. Here is some of the summery the report mentioned:

FAQ1.1:Why are we talking about 1.5°C?
Summary: Climate change represents an urgent and potentially irreversible threat to human societies and the planet. In recognition of this, the  overwhelming majority of countries around the world adopted the Paris Agreement in December 2015,the central  aim of which includes pursuing efforts to  limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
In doing so, these countries, through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) also invited the IPCC to provide a Special Report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emissions pathways
FAQ 1.2: How close are we to 1.5°C?
Summary:
Human–induced warming has already reached about 1°C above pre-industrial levels at the time of writing of this Special Report. By the decade 2006–2015, human activity had warmed the world by 0.87°C (±0.12°C) compared to        pre-industrial times (1850–1900). If the current warming ratecontinues, the world would   reach human–induced global warming of 1.5°C around 2040.

FAQ 2.1:What kind of pathways limit warming to 1.5°C and are we on track?
Summary: There is no definitive way to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above   pre-industriallevels. This Special Report identifies two main conceptual pathways to illustrate different interpretations. One stabilises global temperature at, or just below, 1.5°C. Another sees global temperature temporarily exceed 1.5°C before coming back down. Countries’ pledges to reduce their emissions are currently not in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C

FAQ 2.2:What do energy supply and demand have to do with limiting warming to 1.5°C?
Summary: Limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels would   require major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors. But different sectors are not independent of each other and making changes in one can have implications for another. For example, if we as a society use a lot of energy, then this could mean we have less flexibility in the choice of mitigationoptions available to limit warming to 1.5°C. If we use less energy, the choice of possible actions is greater. For example we could be less reliant on technologies that remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere
FAQ3.1: What are the impacts of 1.5°C and 2°C of warming?
Summary The impacts of climate change are being felt in every inhabited   continent and in the oceans. But they are not spread uniformly across the globe, and different parts of the world experience impacts differently. An average warming of 1.5°C across the whole globe raises the risk of
heatwaves and heavy rainfall events, amongst many other potential impacts. Limiting warming to1.5°C rather than 2°C can help reduce these risks. But the impacts the world experiences will depend on the specific greenhouse gas emission ‘pathway’ taken. The consequences of temporarily overshooting
1.5°C and returning later in the century, for example, could be larger than if
temperature stabilizes below 1.5°C. The size and duration of an overshoot will also affect future impacts.

FAQ 4.1:What Transitions Could  Enable Limiting Global Warming to 1.5°C?
Summary: In order to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, the world would need to transform in a number of complex and connected ways. While transitions towards lower greenhouse gas emissions are underway in some cities, regions, countries, businesses and communities, there are few that are currently consistent with limiting warming to 1.5°C. Meeting this challenge would require a rapid escalation in the current scale and pace of change, particularly in the coming decades. There are many factors that affect the feasibility of different adaptation and mitigation options that could help limit warming to 1.5°C and withadapting to the consequences.

FAQ 4.2:What are Carbon Dioxide Removal and Negative Emissions?
Summary: Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) refers to the process of removing
CO2 from the atmosphere. Since this is the opposite of emissions, practices or technologies that remove CO2 are often described as achieving ‘negative emissions’. The process is sometimes referred to more broadly as greenhouse gas removal if it involves removing gases other than CO2. There are two main types ofC DR: either enhancing existing natural processes that remove carbon from the atmosphere (e.g., byincreasing its uptake by trees, soil, or other ‘carbon sinks’) or using chemical processes to, for example, capture CO2 directly from the ambient air and store it elsewhere (e.g., underground). All CDR methods are at different stages of development and some are more conceptual than others, as they have not been tested at scale
FAQ 4.3:Why is Adaptation Important in a 1.5°C-Warmer World?
Summary: Adaptation is the process of adjusting to current or expected changes in climate and its effects. Even though climate change is a global problem, its impacts are experienced differently across the world. This means that responses are often specific to the local context, and so people in different regions are adapting in different ways. A rise in global temperature from the current 1°C above pre-industrial levels to 1.5°C, and beyond, increases the need for adaptation. Therefore, stabilizing global temperatures at 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels would require a smaller adaptation effort than at 2°C. Despite many successful examples around the world, progress in adaptation is, in many regions,in its infancy and unevenly distributed globally.

FAQ5.1: What Are the Connections between Sustainable Development and Limiting Global Warming to 1.5°C above Pre-Industrial Levels
Summary:Sustainable development seeks to meet the needs of people living today without compromising the needs of future generations, while balancing social, economic and environmental considerations. The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include targets for eradicating poverty; ensuring health, energy and food security; reducing inequality; protecting ecosystems; pursuing sustainable cities and economies; and a goal for climate action (SDG13). Climate change affects the ability to achieve sustainable development goals, and limiting warming to 1.5°C will help meet some sustainable development targets. Pursuing sustainable development will influence
emissions, impacts and vulnerabilities. Responses to climate change in the form of adaptation and mitigation will also interact with sustainable development with npositive effects, known as synergies, or negative effects, known as trade-offs. Responses to climate change can be planned to maximize synergies and limit trade-offs with sustainable development.

FAQ 5.2:What are the Pathways to Achieving Poverty Reduction and Reducing
Inequalities While Reaching the 1.5°C World?
Summary:There are ways to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre
-industrial levels. Of the pathways that exist, some simultaneously achieve sustainable development. They entail a mix of measures that lower emissions and reduce the impacts of climate change, while contributing to poverty eradication and reducing inequalities. Which pathways are possible and desirable will differ between and within regions and nations. This is due to the fact that development progress to date has been uneven and climate
-related risks are unevenly distributed. Flexible governance would be needed
to ensure that such pathways are inclusive, fair and equitable to avoid poor and disadvantaged populations becoming worse off. Climate-resilient development pathways (CRDPs) offer possibilities to achieve both equitable and low-carbon futures

Dark Energy

Go and read the article in Wikipedia For those who are lazy here is a summery.

The observable universe is understood as a sphere around the Earth extending 93 billion light years (8.8 *1026 meters) But the problem is we cannot see beyond this due to red shift and we see the cosmic microwave background (CMB). (This is a scientific fudge factor introduced to explain the un-explainable things.)  Is the observed universe from earth the same as the real universe. Scientists do not know. So they devised a plan to get rid of all these unknowns. they made a model of the universe with our limited knowledge and tested it. Viola we have a flat expanding universe.

This is like a fairy tale.......

Wiki says:

Many things about the nature of dark energy remain matters of speculation.[12] The evidence for dark energy is indirect but comes from three independent sources:
  • Distance measurements and their relation to redshift, which suggest the universe has expanded more in the last half of its life.[13]
  • The theoretical need for a type of additional energy that is not matter or dark matter to form the observationally flat universe (absence of any detectable global curvature).
  • It can be inferred from measures of large scale wave-patterns of mass density in the universe.

Well this problem came to the scientific world when they calculated the amount of matter in the observed universe. oops only 4%. Where is the rest OMG about 96%. So all the boffins are looking for it and came up with a very good idea.  74% Dark Energy and 32% Dark Matter.

In this I found that how devious the boffins are:

It sounds rather strange that we have no firm idea about what makes up 74% of the universe. It's as though we had explored all the land on the planet Earth and never in all our travels encountered an ocean. But now that we've caught sight of the waves, we want to know what this huge, strange, powerful entity really is.

The strangeness of dark energy is thrilling.

It shows scientists that there is a gap in our knowledge that needs to be filled, beckoning the way toward an unexplored realm of physics. We have before us the evidence that the cosmos may be configured vastly differently than we imagine. Dark energy both signals that we still have a great deal to learn, and shows us that we stand poised for another great leap in our understanding of the universe.

Palestine

Watching this program on 13/10/2015, on BBC Newsnight program; I realised the following logic:

1...... there was PLO...... jewish meaning
2.....They made Israel nervous....
3.......Israel made Hamas to divide Palestine......
Learnt from Machiavelli  I think "Divide n r..."
4..........Both PLO and Hamas lost faith, inside the minds  of the up-growing kids, who were born to solitude under Israel.
5......................Reasonable to believe that ISIS and Zionists have joined forces or....big or m8s .....Zionists are creating another force in Palestine to divide the population again.

All the Western media points to the opposite direction. Will the bankers become us?

Do you believe in DNA

Lydia Fairchild is an American woman who exhibits chimerism, with two different sets of DNA present in her body. She was pregnant with her third child when she and the father of her children, Jamie Townsend, separated. When Fairchild applied for child support in 2002, she was requested to provide DNA evidence that Townsend was the father of her children. While the results showed Townsend was certainly the father of the children, the DNA tests indicated that she was not their mother.

heck this and this

Now do you?

Check this little wonder

Digenetic trematodes are parasitic flatworms with complex life cycles, typically involving two or more hosts.

This guy first (damn chicken and egg situation here) gets into a water snail and lay the eggs. The larvae eat the snail inside out. Then they escape into the pond. Gets a bit funny. So these larvae search tadpoles and get into their rear ends. They wait untill the tadpole gets begger and into a frog. The parasite then make the frog's body make an extra leg at the rear end. So the frog is hmmm disabled and cannot escape the predatory birds. So the frog gets eaten by a bird. This is what the prasite has been waiting for. Sex.

In the bird's tummy the perasite have sex and goes out of the bird as poo. Hey hey we start at the hmmmmm startd. In the pond bird's poo eaten by the snail. Gosh. That must have been a lot of reseach for the parasite init?

Blood Falls

there is a reddish brown falls which extentds a few kilometers were found in Antarctica. An Australian geologist Griffith Taylor, who first explored the valley that bears his name. He thought it was because of red algae. That supposition was held for 100 or so years.

In comes geomicrobiologist Jill Mikucki at the University of Tennessee, who was interested in this phenomena since her graduate days. Ultimately she got funded and took a crew to Antarctica to investigate. She found a massive salt water lake under the ice. ,The brine is 3 times more concentrated with salt than normal. There is no oxygen. Her crew found there; a rare subglacial ecosystem of autotrophic bacteria developed that metabolizes sulfate and ferric ions, in the lake. So the problem solved huh?

God

God? What do you know about your God, you believe in? Who told you about God? Did you read about God?

In any case you perceive, by reading, hearing etc through an outside sourse. So you analyse and believe by your own logical thoughts. Now; how can you say that particular god you believe in, is the same as what you read or heard of?

This is my dilemma. How are your thoughts ?

What Time Is It

Ref to Horizon program  or on youtube

Going back a long long time ago Mayan civilization was into Time in a big way. When it comes to that so were lots of other civilizations. Time is not a particular one to all. It can be different to observers in different places and if some one is moving and the other is not.

We all debate whether it is something we feel as some kind of sensation. Does it matter? I do not have an opinion on that, as it is not in my logic. After thousands of years of observing the sun and the moon we have a 24 hour day etc.  When we made use of powerful radio telescopes we timed our earth's rotation with reference to a distant quasar. But when considerd that 600 million years ago we had 22hr day we knew we have to find another way.. Now we have a cesium atom being bombarded with energy to move an electron to an outer shell, then wait for the electron to move to inner shell. When that happens a photon is emitted with a certain frequency. Yeah all our international clocks are timed with that contraption.

Then we know that; when we go to the quantum levels, we notice that time is in quanta-tic little bits of time which keeps on adding. Hmmm I like this.

So we can call this lowest unit of time: TIMETON.

We cannot measure anything smaller than the Plank's Constant viz. 6.62607004 × 10-34 m2 kg / s

So Timeton is just that or to be sure make it 6.0× 10-34  s .

Bit of help from Wiki

Try "What Is Time? One Physicist Hunts for the Ultimate Theory"

Why not Read this which summarises thus:

  •  SUMMARY1.  We measure time by comparing one standard motion against another. Time may not have any independent existence. Time and
clocks are used for convenience. The motion could have been compared directly.

    2. Motion alone is not enough to explain time. Forces also appear to be part of time. Arrow of time may be explained if we think of
time as presence of forces and motion.

    3.  Perception of time as past present and future gives us the illusion of the passage of time as well as the block universe view of
time. Above it is shown that this perception may just be an illusion and time is more like memory and recording devices.
The similarity of time characteristic of past present and future in historical events and made up stories also suggests that our
perception of time is an illusion and this aspect of time is also like a record. The fact that the present which gives us the most
real feel of time cannot be measured while the inaccessible past and future can be measured as durations strongly suggests
that the way we perceive time (present-ism or the block universe view) is an illusion.

    4. Slowing of time in motion and gravity does not lead to disappearance into the past as should happen if there was block universe.
Absence of time travellers from futuristic advanced civilizations is also against the concept of the block universe.

    5. The concept of origin of the universe in the Big Bang is at complete odds with the block universe view of time. If the block universe
which is supposed to be laid out as a time-scape (from the past to the present to the infinite future) exists and began in big bang
then it would mean that all of the time up to the infinite future would come into existence in the instant of the big bang. This idea is
     truly preposterous.

    6. Slowing of time in gravity and in motion as well as the ultimate speed limit c provides us the necessary clues to understanding the
cause of the phenomenon of time however we need to first convince ourselves that time is a process that is linked to motion and
forces and the block universe view of time is not correct.

2.        Is time a dimension?
3.        Why time is related to the curvature of space?
4.        How mass causes space to curve?
5.        What causes time dilation in gravity?
6.        What is gravity and why gravity is only attractive?
7.        What causes time dilation in motion?
8.        How speed of light remains constant in moving objects?

10.      What causes length contraction?
11.      How masses move through the structure of space without any resistance?
12.      What causes inertia?
13.      Why objects gain mass with increase in velocity?
14.      Why despite the runaway gravity of the black holes they do not disappear from the universe?

Are Human beings Digital?

I googled the question, 'Are Human beings Digital?' and got these:

This one says:

The brain is neither analog nor digital, but works using a signal processing paradigm that has some properties in common with both.

Unlike a digital computer, the brain does not use binary logic or binary addressable memory, and it does not perform binary arithmetic. Information in the brain is represented in terms of statistical approximations and estimations rather than exact values. The brain is also non-deterministic and cannot replay instruction sequences with error-free precision. So in all these ways, the brain is definitely not "digital".

The question is are human being digital? The brain function can be like above. But consider this:

First "Shall I drink water?"  The body says "I am thirsty" So my brain is analog and digital before any action. Then I decide to drink. That action is digital. Because there are only 2 states in the action. yes /No.

So I firmly believe I am Digital being. Same goes to all other situations as they  are digital. There can be many states before the action. But when the action happens there are only 1 or 0.

Potluck

according to Wikipedia:

A potluck is a gathering of people where each person or group of people contributes a dish of food prepared by the person or the group, to be shared among the larger gathered group. Synonyms include: potluck dinner, spread, Jacob's join,[1][2] Jacob's supper, faith supper, covered dish supper, dish party, bring and share, dutch, pitch-in, bring-a-plate, dish-to-pass, fuddle.

But today I heard on the TV in "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is" program about antiques, from david Harper a different version. Long time ago when they transported pots with lids, the two come in different boxes. So when they put the lids back to sell them, sometimes you get the right lid. So it potluck.

Before "Big Bang" prof Michio Kaku

As a normal person who has not gone into Astro physics in a big way, i do not believe in Big bang. Good name for people who believe in an all mighty God. my beliefs set aside I like to point out certain assumptions made by eminent  Prof Michio Kaku , has certain big holes in them.

In this program made by UK Horizon, "What Happened Before the Big Bang" he goes into a NASA's Plum Brook Station, in Sanduski Ohio US. there is the biggest vacuum chamber. It has 9 foot aluminium walls.(I know Americans cannot pronounce the word Aluminium ) . So they take all the air and all the atoms out. Then he says in the vacuum  there is energy. And he postulates that before the BB there was a vacuum and there were energy waves which could have made temporary particles which explode. a collective particle explosion created the BB.

Now then professor the vacuum you created has walls they are of course matter. Now I understand  that all matter produce waves. So .....???  I got a problem which has; no answer to it right now, unless someone with more knowledge than me explain this.

All about Manuka Honey

Sorry about this my New Zealand friends.

I found some very tested comments from a BBC. It is not good news for Hanuka honey producers. here it is:

Manuka honey has become increasingly popular in recent years, and can be very expensive. It tends to be sold as having health benefits - but what is the evidence for these?

Manuka honey originated in New Zealand, and it is made from nectar collected by bees that forage on the wild manuka tree, which give it a distinctive flavour. But what about its supposed health benefits?
Most honey is believed to have some bacteria killing properties because it contains chemicals that produce hydrogen peroxide. However, in 1991 a study from the Honey Research Unit in New Zealand showed that when you remove the hydrogen peroxide from a range of honeys, manuka was the only type that kept its ability to kill bacteria. This is due to the presence of a unique ingredient, now identified as methylglyoxal, which has specific antimicrobial properties.

In response to this discovery, jars of manuka honey began to be marketed bearing a UMF number – "Unique Manuka Factor" – relating to how many bacteria the honey could kill once the hydrogen peroxide had been removed. The labeling on jars has, however, caused some confusion. As well as the UMF rating, some jars display MGO, (methylglyoxal) which equates to the same sort of measurement, while others show NPA or TA. The NPA (non-peroxide activity) rating is similarly founded on the level of methyglyoxal the honey contains once the hydrogen peroxide has been removed. TA is instead the total activity, so this includes the hydrogen peroxide, which is present in normal honey. At the same time, some jars can be found with ‘Activity’ or ‘Active’ next to numbers, while some just have numbers alone with no explanation as to their justification.

The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) in New Zealand has released its own voluntary labelling guidelines.

Sorry i lost the link to the above expose??? Never mind see this one:

Meddling kids confirm mānuka honey isn’t panacea

The Sunday Star-Times has a story about a small, short-term, unpublished randomised trial of mānuka honey for preventing minor illness. There are two reasons this is potentially worth writing about: it was done by primary school kids, and it appears to be the largest controlled trial in humans for prevention of illness.
Here are the results (which I found from the Twitter account of the school’s lab, run by Carole Kenrick, who is  named in the story)

And:

You might, at a stretch, say mānuka honey could affect bacteria in the gut, but that’s actually been tested, and any effects are pretty small. Even in wound healing, it’s quite likely that any benefit is due to the honey content rather than the magic of mānuka — and the trials don’t typically have a normal-honey control.

UK Tax Dodgers

I am on benefits due to illness. I will be able to get more money if these rich pigs pay their taxes properly. I am truely disgusted by the filthy rich who are greedier than me with my sweets when I was a kid.

This is from BBC News
  • Tax avoidance schemes cost the UK £3.1bn in 2012-13 (the most recent figures), the HMRC says
  • The HMRC says: "The avoidance tax gap is an annual estimate of the tax lost due to avoidance schemes that are subject to HMRC scrutiny and frustrate the intention of Parliament."
  • £1.4bn of that was through income tax, national insurance contributions and capital gains tax
  • £1.3bn was in unpaid corporation tax
  • £0.1bn was lost through VAT and the remaining £0.2bn was through other direct taxes
Source: HMRC

According to a YouGov survey published in November, 63% of British people said they believed the moral duty to contribute to public services was stronger than the right to keep the money one earns. In the US, only 37% agreed.
Attitudes may have hardened since then, following revelations that banking giant HSBC helped wealthy clients across the world evade hundreds of millions of pounds in tax.
It's true that different people who use the term "tax avoidance" mean very different things by it, as Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls found when he was drawn into a row about whether one should get a receipt for hedge-trimming services and was subject to a newspaper investigation into how he pays his window cleaner.

Income tax - who pays what?

Is this funny side of life?

Gospel of one Proff Jim Al-Khallili

Today we THINK  that dark matter not only exists, but is a vital part of our universe. The world we can see today would not exist, because it is the dark matter which made the galaxies hold together, but it is the dark matter brought the clouds which formed the galaxies and ignited the suns.

Now we have a new boy in town called Dark Energy. So now this is the new fudge. Carry on boyyo, you boffins have been giving me the shits since I opened my first physics book.

So we summarise: First the big white light which created universe. "Hello: God I presume?"
Then came the devil, dark as it can be. The Dark Matter. It gave the world the sins of our fathers by making the suns and planets etc. Then we found out, in the last few years, the Dark Energy which will pull everything God created apart and we all will be isolated.(like u n me will be thousands of meters apart)(one of my cells will me meters apart) Amen
